Burning restrictions lifted in Edina
Edina, Minn. May 15, 2008 -- On Friday, May 16, Edina’s spring open burning
restrictions will be lifted and recreational fires once again allowed with the
proper permit. Permits can be obtained free of charge from Edina City Hall, 4801
W. 50th St., or online at www.CityofEdina.com/Fire.
“The recent bout of spring rainstorms has enabled us to lift the fire ban
early,” said Edina Fire Chief Marty Sheerer. “But we still want residents to
understand that they need to burn responsibly and only when conditions are
safe.”
In addition to acquiring a permit, residents wishing to enjoy a recreational
fire must follow a set of rules including keeping their fire on private
property, contained within a fire ring or pit and at least 25 feet away from all
structures. They are also required to call the Edina Fire Department
Recreational Fire Hotline at 952-826-0398 before starting a fire to ensure that
outdoor burning is allowed.
For more information on recreational fire regulations, contact the Fire
Prevention Bureau at 952-826-0378 or visit www.CityofEdina.com/Fire.
