
Mission--Strengthening Our Community
The Edina Community Foundation was created to advance our community
as a premier place for living, learning, raising families and nurturing
leadership through the development of a strong program of philanthropy.
Vision
The Foundation envisions a future in which:
- The philanthropic interests of all citizens and organizations in our
community are actively encouraged and served;
- The Foundation is a creative source of new ideas and strategies that
assist the community in meeting ongoing and emerging needs; and
- We are a strong and effective source of leadership in the
mobilization and coordination of the multitude of resources and skills
of our citizens in order to help increase community viability and
vitality.
Legal Status
State
The Foundation is a nonprofit corporation under Minnesota law with a July
1-June 30 fiscal year, and it files a Charitable Organization Annual
Report with the Minnesota Attorney General.
We are a member of the Minnesota Council on Foundations, subscribe to
its “Principles for Minnesota Grantmakers,” and are listed in its Guide to
Minnesota Grantmakers.
Federal
The Foundation is an exempt organization eligible for tax-deductible
charitable contributions under Section 501(c)(3) of the U. S. Internal
Revenue Code. It files a Form 990 annually with the Internal Revenue
Service.
Copies of the
Annual Report, the Form 990, and an
annual audit prepared by an independent auditing firm are available for
public review in the Foundation’s office.
